A group of research materials supporting interest in the advance of the organic or “Progressive” design idiom from the late 1890s to the early 2000s. Features a collection of historic design images, commission lists, bibliographies, and other archival materials as launching pads for further inquiry. Links to external resources are provided when available.
Frederick M. Lang was a pioneering landscape architect in southern California. His architectural drawings were received by Archival Access for cataloging on July 13, 2026. Related project files will also be cataloged. Miscellaneous biographical materials and oral history interviews may be added to the collection as resources allow.
Finding aid to a historical collection housed at the Northwest Architectural Archives, University of Minnesota. Written in the early 1980s and produced through grant support from the College of Fellows, American Institute of Architects; the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts, and the Minnesota Historical Society, this version revised in 2028 completes a transition from paper based to digital expression. In this context, reference images have been linked to the presentations of records found in the UMedia Digital Collections at the University of Minnesota Libraries.
Alvin Louis Wiehle (born 1930) is a Taliesin Fellowship Apprentice (1950-1964) and architect. The collection contains the bulk of his personal and professional records from the 1950s to the mid-1980s. Later continuation of his architectural practice, including associations with Taliesin Architects and the Taliesin Fellows organization, can be found in the Wiehle-Carr Architecture Records. Approximately linear 40 feet; the collection is presently being.  processed. 
Wiehle-Carr Architecture was an architectural partnership between architect A. Louis Wiehle and designer Christopher M. Carr. Bulk dates, 1992-2022. The collection contains a large group of materials related to architectural commissions in residential, commercial, health care, and historic restoration design, including works in association with Eric Lloyd Wright and Taliesin Architects. Collection also holds substantial records related to the Taliesin Fellows organization, publication of the Journal of the Taliesin Fellows, and various Taliesin Fellows events. Personal and professional papers of industrial designer and artists John Phelan. Together with the bulk of his personal records and memorabilia, the collection holds the full range of his artistic work, consisting of paintings, serigraphs, sketchbooks and numerous preparatory drawings. Phelan was the life partner of A. Louis Wiehle. He contributed to several architectural designs by Wiehle, notably doing an extensive series of sketches for the the Peak Club Competition.
